Health & Safety Information

At JMA,  the health, safety, and well-being of our students and staff are top priorities. We are committed to providing a safe learning environment through proactive safety planning, health education, and transparent communication.

Emergency & Campus Safety

We maintain and regularly update our Emergency Operations Plan (EOP) in accordance with Texas School Safety Center guidelines. Safety measures include:

  • Secure campus entry systems and visitor check-in procedures

  • Regular emergency drills (fire, lockdown, shelter-in-place, etc.)

Health Services

Although JMA does not employ a full-time nurse, our trained staff provide support for student health needs, medication administration, and wellness education.
Key health policies include:

  • Students must be fever-free for 24 hours before returning to school

  • Head lice: Our school follows a no-live-lice protocol

Immunization Requirements

In compliance with Texas law, students must meet current state immunization requirements to attend school.

Bacterial Meningitis

In the 86th Legislature, HB 3884 required the Department of State Health Services (DSHS) to create procedures for school districts to provide information relating to bacterial meningitis to students and parents. This requirement was previously assigned to the Texas Education Agency (TEA). DSHS has created a website with bacterial meningitis information aimed at students and parents.
